Joining Year 7 in September 2024?

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to QEHS.

We hope that you find everything you need to know here on our website, but in the event of this not being the case, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Congratulations on your 11+ success and for choosing us as your secondary school.

I am the Transition Coordinator and it is my responsibility to make sure that moving from primary to secondary school is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. I hope that you found the Welcome Pack you received in March interesting and informative and that subsequent communications have been timely and useful. We have added some of the most important pieces of information for you below, but once you find your way around our website you will find it contains everything you need to know about your new school!

Primary School Visits

The next significant phase to our transition process starts in June when we visit children in their primary schools. This offers contact with a friendly face, allows the students to find out more about QEHS and gives our staff chance to get to know the new students a little.

Sporting Event

On 27 June we will be hosting an evening sporting event for our Year 6 students from 16.00-18.00. This is an early opportunity to meet some of your peers and members of staff and take part in some fun, informal sporting activities.

Taster Days

Our Taster Days will be on 2 and 3 July and you will be required on both days between 8.50 and 15.15. On these days you will meet your Form Tutor and Head of Year and find out which form you will be in in September.

Parents’ Evening

On 3 July, we have an evening transition event for Year 6 children and their parents/guardians. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet members of staff and find out more about the school and what it is like to be a Year 7 student at QEHS.

Induction Day

In September we expect to have an Induction Day on Wednesday 4 September when we dedicate our time to just our Year 7 and Year 12 students, before the rest of the school return. This offers students in Years 7 and 12 the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school site, deal with some of the numerous but necessary administrative tasks, to have a crisp start to their learning at the beginning the school year. This will be first time that new students can travel to QEHS by the school bus.

I hope that our incoming Year 7 students are looking forward to meeting us as much as we are looking forward to meeting them. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or email.
